The changing fortunes of Hotels in San Antonio, Ibiza

An exciting year ahead for San Antonio

San Antonio on the up

Despite all the negative press over recent years aimed squarely at San Antonio Ibiza, its fortunes are changing and one of the most reported issues has been in regards to old run down hotels with little or no investment over recent years.

However this is far from the truth of what is actually going on in the San Antonio hotel market with several already having undergone major refurbishments or have been taken over with planned makeovers ahead.

The latest announcement came yesterday, with the news that Tony Truman, long time businessmen in Ibiza (Ocean Beach Club, Ocean Beach Hotel, Linekers Bar, Kiss my Fairy and Apolo Accommodation has added  the 45 bed Costa Mar Hotel beside Calo des Moro to his business portfolio.

He will be working alongside long-standing best friend and now business partner Gordon Taylor. Although the hotel will remain the same for this summer they already have plans to refurbish it over the winter of 2016/17.

Tony Truman said “We are really excited about turning the hotel into a stunning funky, quirky and modern Boutique style hotel for 2017, something that will be very unique to San Antonio and Ibiza”.

The Costa Mar is in a lovely location beside Calo des Moro beach in a quieter part of San Antonio with fantastic views out over the Mediterranean and of the world famous Ibiza sunset and we look forward to seeing what the future brings to this hotel.

This adds to the long list of San Antonio hotels and hostals which have had refurbishments or work completed in recent months including, Beach Star Ibiza, Sol House Mixed by Ibiza Rocks, Hostal Marino, Hostal La Torre and the Ocean Beach Hotel to name but a few.

It just shows that despite some people saying the town has had its day and all the hotels are old, rundown and dirty that San Antonio is in fact actually on the up and up and with some of Ibiza’s best beaches on its doorstep, great transport links, a host of great bars / restaurants and endless activities for 8 to 80 year olds so it’s definitely worth considering when booking your next Ibiza adventure.
