No smoking on Santa Eulàlia beach

The Council of Santa Eulària this week has approved making the Santa Eulària beach a Smoking Free Zone.  It’s the first of it’s kind in Ibiza and across the whole of the Balearic’s.

This is a two-fold approach, firstly to make the beach more comfortable for the vast majority of family users it hosts and secondly to reduce the environmental impact the discarded cigarette butts have on the local flora and fauna.

The butts themselves can carry residues of the harmful toxins in cigarettes and can take up to 10 years to bio-degrade.

Signs and notices will be installed around the area to help promote a family friendly beach with high environmental values.

Santa Eulàlia beach loved by families and those looking for a quieter holiday in Ibiza

Santa Eulària is the third largest resort in Ibiza and is well known for its family appeal, perfect for those seeking a somewhat quieter holiday and has a long established reputation as the island’s gastronomic and cultural centre.

It does seem that this is a trial  but may be rolled out to other beaches across Ibiza in the future.
