Sarah Milburn and her Art of Ibiza
Ibiza has always attracted artists to its shores, whether it’s the island’s mystical spirit or the stunning views and scenery on offer.
It is rare I see art that I fall in love with but scrolling through twitter one Sunday morning I saw a painting by UK based artist Sarah Milburn.
The colours and vibrancy grabbed my attention immediately with me hunting out her other pieces which blew me away.
I contacted Sarah which sparked a long and fascinating conversation with her about her art and love of painting Ibiza.
Sarah says she was born to paint and cannot remember a time when she didn’t have a pencil or brush in her hand. She studied art to A level standard then took up teaching as a career.
Two years ago she picked up the brushes again and having visited Ibiza on her honeymoon where like many of us she fell in love with the beauty, magic and special vibes of the island she re-visited and began to paint.
With a Van Gough impressionist influence, Sarah paints with a passion for colour in her own unique and beautiful style.
Her sunsets are truly awe-inspiring and capture the true beauty of mother nature in Ibiza perfectly.
The original to this painting hangs pride of place inside Cafe Mambo (in the boss’s office) a true high point for Sarah and her artwork.
After two years since restarting her art career, she says it was the best decision she ever made “I love painting because my soul truly sings when I’m doing it.
It takes me to my happy place where I feel truly at home. I also love the reaction that my art receives. It’s so rewarding knowing that your art makes others so happy.”
With so much inspiration on offer across the island, it’s easy to see why Sarah finds it such an amazing place to paint, the way the light falls on the island it is a true artist’s canvas.
She is available for commissions at very reasonable rates and prints of her artwork are also for sale so if you are looking for that ultimate gift or for a unique memory of Ibiza contact Sarah, you will not be disappointed.
