San An trying to ban drinking in the streets
Yesterday at the monthly meeting of the Council of San Antonio a proposal has been put forward to change the ordinance of Coexistence which would result in the banning of drinking in public, crowded places.
Not just alcohol, which is already banned but all drinks including juice, water, milkshakes, coffee in fact anything of liquid form in a container and if caught you could face a fine of 750 Euros.
The reason is to try and curb the amount of people drinking alcohol in the streets and public spaces which is causing disruption and annoyance within the town. Read more
Ibiza flights 2016
Last year we wrote about the rise of incidents on board flights to Ibiza and how several incidents, mainly of drunken behaviour had made national and international headlines.
As the summer flights start and we take our first flight to Ibiza in the coming days it has been made clear by the airlines that drunken unruly behaviour on board will not be tolerated.
We received an email from Ryanair (yesterday) which re-enforced their rules which were brought in mid season last year after they had suffered several incidents on board their flights. Read more

San Antonio Council
San Antonio Council have today announced it has suspended dynamic advertising including commercial parades, ticket selling and PR’s on the streets of San Antonio for 2016.
The suspension comes after several summers of complaints from not only tourists who feel they are being harassed in public spaces but also from businesses in the area who are tired of those visiting San Antonio being urged to attend bars, boat parties and club nights elsewhere. Read more
The EcoTax for Ibiza
Today the Balearic Government which controls the islands of Ibiza, Formentera, Majorca and Minorca has approved the the bill of sustainable tourism tax or the “EcoTax” as it has become widely known as.
The idea of the EcoTax is to raise much needed funds for the promotion of sustainable tourism and conservation of natural areas. A committee with representation of political institutions and social partners will determine where the money raised will go in due course. Read more
s’Arenal beach San Antonio
San Antonio Council are making big changes to the beach sun loungers and other beach concessions in San Antonio for the next 3 years.
The large Balinese style beds are to be banned completely with a 50% reduction on the number of sun loungers and parasols on Calo d’es Moro and Cala Gracioneta.
However, there will be a new concession of sun loungers added to the main beach in San Antonio (s’Arenal) which is hoped will aid beach cleanliness, with the concession owner being responsible for keeping their “business area” clean and tidy. Read more
